Cleveland and Akron
The northeast Ohio affiliate of BioOhio, BioEnterprise is a business formation, recruitment, and acceleration initiative designed to grow health care companies and commercialize bioscience technologies. Based in Cleveland, BioEnterprise’s founders and partners are The Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University, and Summa Health System. Since July 2002, the BioEnterprise Initiative has achieved the following results:
- More than 70 companies created, recruited, and accelerated
- More than $625 million in new funding attracted by these companies
- Over $85 million in revenues collected by technology offices
- Over 250 technology transfer deals concluded with industry partners.
BioEnterprise has evaluated over 900 company opportunities and 1,500 invention disclosures.
Cincinnati

BioOhio’s southwest Ohio affiliate, BIOSTART empowers young life science companies with a proven mix of business and scientific know-how, effective services, and cutting edge laboratory facilities.

Business incubation is one part of TechColumbus’ comprehensive technology-based economic development strategy. Transforming ideas and innovations into sustainable technology businesses is the primary purpose of the TechColumbus Incubator, BioOhio’s central Ohio affiliate.
Since 1999, companies in the business incubation program have generated more than $40 million in revenue, created 293 new high-paying jobs and attracted more than $50 million in private equity and another $17 million in grant income dollars.

Athens
An interdisciplinary research institute of Ohio University established in 1984 and a BioOhio regional affiliate, the Edison Biotechnology Institute (EBI) has a dual mission. Basic discovery research and development of new technology and the transfer of technology to the private sector for economic benefit in Ohio.
EBI focuses on the molecular/genetic basis of diseases that disproportionately affect the people of Appalachian Ohio and that also are major worldwide challenges including: growth disorders; diabetes, obesity and related cardiovascular complications; autoimmune/inflammatory diseases; aging; infectious diseases; and cancer
Innovation Center
Ohio University’s business incubator, The Innovation Center is a 36,000 square foot facility delivering comprehensive services and resources to meet the needs of emerging technology companies in southeast Ohio. Tenant benefits include business assistance, investor and commercial lender resources, networking, flexible leases, shared office equipment, and shared research equipment.
Toledo

Toledo’s Regional Growth Partnership is a private nonprofit development corporation dedicated to fostering local, national and international economic growth opportunities for northwest Ohio. In March 2008, the RGP hired a business development associate to serve as a local liaison for the bioscience industry in conjunction with BioOhio. The RGP provides a variety of services to its client companies, including: project financial assistance, business expansion assistance,
international trade development, site and facility searches, marketing planning, and connections with pre-seed and early stage financing options.
Cincinnati

CincyTech's mission is to accelerate the growth of start-up technology businesses into high growth companies in southwest Ohio through management assistance, seed capital investments, and connections to partners who share our mission. They bring together new and existing resources to accelerate the growth of new technology ventures in the bioscience, IT, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
